titleOfInvention | A PROCEDURE IN CATALYTIC SYSTEMS FOR THE POLYMERIZATION OF MONOMERIC COMPOSITIONS BASED ON DEVINYL CHLORIDE. |
abstract | Vinyl chloride polymers are made by polymerizing vinyl chloride alone or with another monomer in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of trialkyl boron complexed with hydrazine, a peroxide, and molecular oxygen. The polymerization temperature is preferably below 0 DEG C. The other monomer may be vinyl acetate, laurate, or stearate, methyl or lauryl acrylate or methacrylate, acrylonitrile, monochlorotrifluoroethylene, 1,1 - dichloroethylene, 1,2-dichloroethylene, or trichloroethylene. The preferred peroxide is monochloracetyl peroxide dissolved in methyl phthalate. The polymerization is substantially bulk, only small amounts of methanol in relation to the monomers being present. |
