titleOfInvention A PROCEDURE IN CATALYTIC SYSTEMS FOR THE POLYMERIZATION OF MONOMERIC COMPOSITIONS BASED ON DEVINYL CHLORIDE.
abstract Vinyl chloride polymers are made by polymerizing vinyl chloride alone or with another monomer in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of trialkyl boron complexed with hydrazine, a peroxide, and molecular oxygen. The polymerization temperature is preferably below 0 DEG C. The other monomer may be vinyl acetate, laurate, or stearate, methyl or lauryl acrylate or methacrylate, acrylonitrile, monochlorotrifluoroethylene, 1,1 - dichloroethylene, 1,2-dichloroethylene, or trichloroethylene. The preferred peroxide is monochloracetyl peroxide dissolved in methyl phthalate. The polymerization is substantially bulk, only small amounts of methanol in relation to the monomers being present.
