abstract | 7-amino-3-thienyl coumarin dye of the formula (IV): **(See formula)** in which R2 is selected from L-WSG, and substituted or unsubstituted alkyl; R3, R4, R5, and R6 are H; L is a linker of formula (VI): [(CH2)aY-(CH2)b]c(VI) where Y is the same or different and is selected from none, O, S, NH, NR9, SO2- NH, SO2-NR9, CO-NH, CO-O, CO-S, CO-O-CO, aminotriazine, triazinyl ether, NH-CO-NH, NH-CS-NH, NH-CO-O, O- POR9-O, SO2, SO2-O, amino acid, aryl, and heteroaryl, where R9 is alkyl or WSG, a and c may be the same or different and are an integer from 1 to 10, and b is an integer from 0 to 10 ; WSG is a water soluble group and is selected from sulfonic acid, sulfate, alkylsulfonic acid, thiosulfonic acid, sulfonamide, phosphate, phosphonic acid, boronic acid, ammonium, pyridinium, acridinium, cyclodextrin, monosaccharide, oligosaccharide, dextran, and -(CH2- CH2-O)x where x is an integer from 1 to 10; and wherein one or more substituents, if present, on the alkyl group are selected from hydroxy, trifluoromethyl, halogen, alkoxy, dialkylamino, alkylcarbonylamino, alkoxycarbonylamino, alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxyalkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, alkylsulfonamido, arylsulfonamido, carboxyalkoxy, carboxyalkylamino, cyano, alkylazide , azide, aryl, arylalkyl, heteroaryl, heteroarylalkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, cycloheteroalkyl, cycloheteroalkyl, and WSG; and get out of them. |
