abstract | Ophthalmic composition consisting of: an aqueous solution of hyaluronic acid (HA) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP); an amount of an inorganic salt sufficient to bring the composition to a predetermined osmolarity; strong acid or strong base as necessary to bring the composition to a predetermined pH; and optionally, a buffer; characterized in that said ophthalmic composition is suitable for topical administration; and said ophthalmic composition is characterized by a concentration of HA or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof of about 0.1% w/v and a concentration of PVP of about 5% w/v, where the term "about" refers to amounts within of ±25% of the amount expressed. |
