abstract A method for expanding and maintaining human embryonic stem cells in an undifferentiated state, the method comprising culturing the human embryonic stem cells in a suspension culture in the culture medium comprising at least 2000 units per milliliter (u / ml) of inhibitory factor of leukemia (LIF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) under culture conditions devoid of adherence to the substrate and which allow the expansion of human embryonic stem cells in the undifferentiated state, thus expanding and maintaining human embryonic stem cells in the undifferentiated state.
