abstract | A self-contained biological indicator (100), comprising: a first ampoule (102) having a first upper part (120) and a first lower part (122), the first ampoule (102) containing a first volume of a first cultivation (124); a second vial (104) having a second top (126) and a second bottom (128), the second vial (104) containing a second volume of a second culture medium (130); a cap (108), a vial (106) attached to the cap; a growth reservoir (114); a spore disc (112) disposed on a base of the growth reservoir, and an insert (110) disposed on the spore disc, wherein at least a part of the first blister (102) and a part of the second blister (104) is disposed within the vial (106), wherein the cap (108) is disposed above the first ampoule (102) and the second ampoule (104), the first ampoule (102) is disposed adjacent to the second blister (104), and the first upper part is arranged closer to the cap (108) than the second upper part, and wherein the indicator is configured in such a way that the first blister (102) is broken by pressing the cap (108 ) from a first position to a second position, and the second ampoule (104) is broken by pressing the cap (108) from the second position to a third position. |
