abstract | A method for selectively removing a protein from a sample comprising at least two proteins, the method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a sample comprising at least two proteins, one of which is to be selectively removed and the other protein it is an immunoglobulin; (b) adjusting the pH of the sample solution so that the pH is within 1.0 pH unit of the isoelectric point of the protein to be selectively removed; (c) contacting the sample with activated charcoal, where the activated charcoal binds to the protein to be selectively removed; and (d) removing the activated carbon from the sample, thus resulting in the selective removal of the protein that binds to the activated carbon from the sample. |
