titleOfInvention Systems to determine in closed loop the configuration of the stimulation parameters of an electrical stimulation system
abstract A computer system for facilitating the programming configuration of an implantable pulse generator associated with a patient, comprising: a processor; a memory; and pulse generator feedback control logic, stored in memory, and configured, when executed by the processor, to interact with the implantable pulse generator (IPG) control instructions by performing the following actions: a) incorporate one one or more machine learning engines, automatically generating a proposed set of stimulation parameter values each affecting a stimulation aspect of the GPI; b) forwarding the automatically generated proposed set of pacing parameter values to configure the pacing parameters of the IPG with the proposed set of pacing parameter values; c) receiving one or more clinical response values as a result of the IPG being configured with the proposed set of pacing parameter values; characterized in that said pulse generator feedback control logic is further configured to d) predict, by incorporating one or more machine learning engines and using said one or more clinical response values, at least one value therapeutic response for each of a plurality of sets of untested stimulation parameter values; e) selecting, based on predicted therapeutic response values and at a distance of each untested set of stimulation parameter values from one or more previously tested stimulation parameter values, a proposed revised set of stimulation parameter values of the plurality of sets of untested stimulation parameter values; f) resending the revised proposed set for setting the pacing parameters of the GPI with the revised proposed set of pacing parameter values; and g) repeating actions c) to f) until or unless a stop condition is reached or said one or more received clinical response values indicate a value that corresponds to an indication of therapeutic response within the designated tolerance.
