abstract |
A composition for use in increasing red blood cell levels and increasing muscle formation in a patient with anemia in need thereof, wherein (i) the patient has cachexia or sarcopenia, (ii) the composition comprises an effective amount of an ActRIIb antagonist and (iii) the antagonist is a fusion protein comprising an immunoglobulin Fc domain and an ActRIIb polypeptide, the ActRIIb polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of: a) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO: 1.1; b) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO: 2; and c) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO: 3 |
