titleOfInvention Fluid Displaced Tissue Vessel for Molecular and Histological Diagnostics
abstract A container (10) for storing a biological sample, comprising. a housing (12) having a housing wall (14) extending between a first open end (16) and a second end (18), the first open end (16) defining a first chamber (20) adapted to receive a fluid therein, the housing (12) further comprising a second chamber (26) adapted to receive a fluid therein; a sample holder (40) configured for placement within the first chamber (20), the sample holder (40) defining an internal cavity (44) for containing a biological sample and comprising at least one fluid opening; a closure (50) for closing at least the open end of the housing; and a valve (32) that extends through the housing wall (14) between the first and second chambers (20, 26), the valve (32) including a handle (34) that extends externally to the wall. housing (14), wherein the valve (32) can rotate between a first position in which the first chamber (20) is in fluid isolation with respect to the second chamber (26), to a second position in which the fluid can pass from at least the second chamber (26) to the first chamber (20), where the rotation of the handle (34) rotates and opens the valve (32) thereby moving a fluid channel of the valve (32) from a first orientation to prevent fluid communication between the first chamber (20) and the second chamber (26) to a second orientation in which the fluid channel is aligned between the first chamber (20) and the second chamber (26) to provide fluid communication between them and allow fluid contained within at least one of the first The chamber (20) and the second chamber (26) pass through at least one fluid opening and into the internal cavity (44) and come into contact with the biological sample.
