abstract A process for preparing 3-fluoroalkyl-5-pyrazolecarboxylates (I), ** (See formula) ** wherein R1 is selected from C1-C6 haloalkyl, R2 is selected from C1-12 alkyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, aryl C6-18 and C7-18- arylalkyl, R3 is selected from H, C1-C12 alkyl, benzyl, C6-18 aryl, and pyridyl; characterized in that in step (A), the oxalic acid derivatives of formula (II), ** (See formula) ** in which R2 is as defined above; X is F, Cl, or Br; they are reacted with the compounds of formula (III), ** (See formula) ** in which R4 is selected from C1-12 alkyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, benzyl and C7-18 arylalkyl-; R1 is as defined above; in the presence of a base to form the compounds of formula (IV). ** (See formula) ** in which R1, R2, R4 are as defined above and that in step (B) in the presence of hydrazine H2N-NHR3 (III) in which R3 is as defined above and a acid, cyclization of (IV) takes place to form (I).
