Wear component of metal-ceramic composite material obtained from an open-pore ceramic structure formed by a three-dimensional interconnected network of sintered ceramic grains joined by a binding agent, the pores of the open-pore ceramic structure being filled with a surrounding metallic matrix at least a part of the ceramic structure, said sintered ceramic grains comprising 3-55% by weight of alumina, 40-95% by weight of zirconia, and one or more other inorganic components in a total relative amount of 1-30% by weight, said one or more other inorganic components comprising at least one component selected from the group consisting of rare earth metal oxides, alkaline earth metal oxides, silicates, carbides, nitrides, and borides, the oxide part representing rare earth metals 1-10% by weight of the total relative amount. |
