titleOfInvention | Systems to deliver and deploy an artificial heart valve within the mitral annulus |
abstract | A delivery system (190) for intravascularly delivering a replacement heart valve (10) to a desired heart valve, the delivery system (190) comprising: an expandable replacement heart valve (10); a handle assembly (130); and an elongated delivery member (70) coupled to the handle assembly (130) and extending distally from the handle assembly (130), the delivery member (70) having a distal end and being configured for releasable engagement to the valve. expandable replacement heart valve (10) at the distal end, the delivery element (70) further including: an outer shell (82) having a valve cover (84) configured to constrict the expandable replacement heart valve (10) into a compressed configuration; a steering component (80) configured to direct the delivery element (70) to allow intravascular delivery of the delivery element (70) to the desired heart valve; a delivery catheter (78) configured to longitudinally translate the expandable replacement heart valve (10) relative to the outer shell (82), the delivery catheter (78) including a distal canister (610, 79) configured in size and shaped to constrict a proximal section of the expandable replacement heart valve (10) when the expandable replacement heart valve (10) is held in the compressed configuration, thereby relieving the distal canister (610, 79) expansion pressure against a inner surface of the valve cover (84), the distal canister (610, 79) also providing a counter force to hold the expandable replacement heart valve (10) in position when the outer shell (82) is removed; and a suture catheter (72) having one or more threads (26) configured for releasable engagement to a proximal section (12) of the expandable replacement heart valve (10), the suture catheter (72) being longitudinally translatable with relative to the delivery catheter (78) to allow adjustment of the tension in the one or more wires (26). |
