titleOfInvention | Systems and Procedures for Multiple Analyte Analysis |
abstract | A method, comprising: providing a test element configured to analyze first and second analytes in a sample; providing a portable device comprising a screen, a processor and a storage memory, the device being operative to couple one or more test items and to determine the concentration of at least a first and second analytes in a liquid sample provided in said one or more items of evidence; contact the test element with the sample; determining the concentration of the second analyte in the sample; determining the concentration of the first analyte in the sample, using the device, recording in the storage memory the value of the determined concentration of each of the at least one first and second analytes; using the device, determining whether the determined concentration for the first analyte is above a first predetermined value; using the device, determining whether the determined concentration for the second analyte is above a second predetermined value; and using the device, activating a monitoring mode when the determined concentration for any of the first and second analytes is above the respective first and second predetermined values, wherein the first analyte is hydroxybutyrate and the second analyte is glucose; wherein the concentration of said at least one first and second analytes is determined electrochemically; and wherein activating said surveillance mode comprises - recommending and / or asking a user to test hydroxybutyrate every 4-6 hours; - display measured glucose and hydroxybutyrate levels regardless of their relationship to any prespecified value after initiation and during surveillance mode; and / or - starting a new trend data set to determine if hydroxybutyrate levels are beginning to rise even if they are still below the threshold of a high hydroxybutyrate level. |
