abstract | A process for the preparation of an anhydrous crystalline form of (1S) -1,5-anhydro-1- [3 - [[5- (4-fluorophenyl) -2-thienyl] methyl] -4-methylphenyl] -D- glucitol comprising the following pXRD peaks (º2θ): 5.12 ± 0.02, 7.41 ± 0.02, 10.24 ± 0.02, 11.13 ± 0.02, 14.86 ± 0, 02, and 30.01 ± 0.02, which comprises dissolving a crystalline form of hemihydrate of (1S) -1,5-anhydro-1- [3 - [[5- (4-fluorophenyl) -2-thienyl] methyl ] -4-methylphenyl] -D-glucitol in a dry organic solvent selected from the group consisting of isopropyl acetate and acetonitrile to produce a mixture; heating the mixture to a temperature in the range of about 35 ° C to about the reflux temperature of the solvent; and then cool to about room temperature; to produce a precipitate of the anhydrous crystalline form. |
