abstract A method of determining the sensitivity of a subject to a multikinase inhibitor comprising measuring the expression profile of a panel of gene markers in a biological sample from the subject, wherein the panel of gene markers consists of one or more markers selected from the group consisting of SEC14L2, H6PD, TMEM140, SLC2A5, ACTA1, IRF8, STAT2 and UGT2A1, comparing the expression profile of the panel with a predetermined expression profile, where the sensitivity of the subject is determined based on the comparison between the expression profile of the panel of gene markers and the predetermined expression profile, where it is determined that the subject is sensitive to the treatment with multikinase inhibitor when the expression profile of any of the marker genes is within the predetermined expression profile, or when the profile of expression of a panel of gene markers is similar to or lower than the predetermined expression profile, where it is determined that the subject is not responsive to multikinase inhibitor treatment when the expression profile of a panel of gene markers is not within the predetermined expression profile, or when the expression profile of a panel of gene markers is higher than the predetermined expression profile, and wherein the multikinase inhibitor targets vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mediated angiogenesis and blocks the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) kinase (MEK) / ERK cascade.
