titleOfInvention | RNA interference for the treatment of gain-of-function disorders |
abstract | An iRNA agent for use in a method of treating a subject who has or is at risk of having a disease characterized or caused by a mutant gain-of-function protein, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of the iRNA agent that silences an allelic polymorphism within a gene encoding a mutant protein such that specific gene sequence interference occurs resulting in effective disease treatment, wherein the iRNA agent silences a polymorphic region that is distinct from the mutation of the extended region of CAG in the gene encoding the mutant protein, where the disease is Huntington's disease and the mutant protein is the huntingtin protein. |
