abstract | An activator precursor composition comprising: i) a support material in contact with a binding agent, and ii) a polyfunctional compound having at least two aromatic groups in which at least two of said aromatic groups have with it each one at least one polar monoprotic group, in which the binding agent is an organometallic compound, a non-organometallic compound or mixtures of them, in which when the binding agent is an organometallic compound, it has the formula: MR1sQt -s where M represents a metal atom selected from Mg, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Zn, B, Ga, In, Sn and mixtures thereof; R1 can be the same or different and represents a C1-C20 hydrocarbyl group, in which the beta carbon of the hydrocarbyl group can be replaced by Si; Q represents a heteroatom or an organic group containing heteroatom, wherein the heteroatom is directly linked to M via the heteroatom; t represents the valence of M and s is a number such that 2 <= s <= t, and when the binding agent is a non-organometallic compound, it is represented by the formula: M1Q1t in which M1 represents a metal atom selected from Mg, Al, Sc, Y, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, B Ga, In, Al, Si, Ge, Sn, La, Ce , Er, Yb, Lu and mixtures of them; Q1 may be the same or different and represents a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing organic group, wherein said heteroatom or heteroatom-containing organic group is directly linked to M1 via the heteroatom; t represents the 25 valence of M1, or MgCl2, MgF2, AlCl3, AlF3, SiCl4, SiMeCl3, SiMe2Cl2, Ti (OEt) 4, Ti (OBu) 4, Ti (NMe2) 4, Ta (NMe2) 5 or Zr (NMe2 )4. |
