A method for quantifying the amount of IL-1α in a biological sample, the method comprising the steps of: (a) separating a biological sample obtained from a human subject using a size exclusion filter that separates the molecules according to weight molecular structure in a first fraction comprising intact IgG complexed with IL-1α and a second fraction consisting of molecules of less than 100 Kda, in which biological sample comprises intact IgG complexed with IL-1α, in which the first fraction does not pass through of the filter, and wherein the second fraction passes through the filter; and (b) quantifying the amount of IL-1α in the first fraction. |
