abstract | Process for the preparation of aniline or an aniline derivative product, the process comprising the following steps: (I) decarboxylation of aminobenzoic acid to form aniline in a reactor in the presence of a catalyst, a stream containing aniline being withdrawn from the reactor; (II) purification of a part of the stream containing aniline removed in step (I) to obtain aniline, preferably by distillation; (III) recirculation of another part of the stream containing aniline removed in stage (I) in the reactor of stage (I); (IV) Optional further reaction of the aniline purified in step (II) to form an aniline derivative product, step (IV) comprising in particular one of the following reactions: (IV-1) acid-catalyzed reaction of the aniline with formaldehyde forming di- and polyamines of the diphenylmethane series; (IV-2) acid catalyzed reaction of aniline with formaldehyde, followed by reaction with phosgene to form di- and polyisocyanates of the diphenylmethane series; (IV-3) reaction of aniline to form an azo compound. |
