abstract An isolated fusion protein, the fusion protein comprising an RSV F protein fragment and a non-RSV protein, wherein the RSV F protein fragment consists of amino acids 195 to 228 of SEQ ID NO: 1, amino acids 195 to 228 of SEQ ID NO: 2, amino acids 1 to 34 of SEQ ID NO: 7, or amino acids 1 to 34 of SEQ ID NO: 9, wherein the non-RSV protein comprises trypsin inhibitor II from Ecballium elaterium ( EETI-II) squash family protease inhibitor, wherein the inhibitory loop of EETI-II is replaced by the RSV F protein fragment and wherein the fusion protein is constrained in a conformation that can be specifically bound by monoclonal antibody D25 or an antigen-binding fragment, variant, analog or derivative thereof.
