abstract |
A suture delivery device for suturing an opening in tissue comprising: an elongated deployment shaft [232] having a distal end and ramps [230] formed at the distal end; a needle deployment assembly [212] carried by the shaft [232], including a plurality of needles [222] carrying suture material configured to have an insert profile in a distal position and to deflect radially outward to a drilling angle when moving proximally with respect to the axis [232] on the ramps [230] at the distal end of the axis [232]; a manifold tube [242] coaxially and slidably disposed on the shaft [232] having a manifold [240] at a distal end; and a sleeve [238] arranged coaxially and slidably on the collector tube [242]; characterized by a stabilizer [214] carried by the shaft [232] in a location proximal to the needle deployment assembly [212], where the stabilizer [214] is reconfigurable between an unexpanded insert profile and an expanded profile; and further characterized in that the collector [240] and sheath [238] are configured to retain at least a portion of each of the plurality of needles that carry the suture material when the needles [222] are passed through the tissue to be sutured to a proximal position that couples the collector [240] and the sheath [238]; wherein a distal end of the sleeve [238] is configured to insert the tissue to be sutured against the stabilizer [214] when it expands. |
