abstract | A method of measuring peptide degradation products of a proteolytic cascade comprising at least two consecutive proteolytic reactions in a blood sample, in which the sample is incubated until the actual overall degradation rate of at least one peptide degradation product is equal to the actual overall formation rate of said at least one peptide degradation product and a steady state equilibrium is reached for said at least one peptide degradation product involved in said proteolytic cascade and in which said at least one degradation product peptide at steady state steady state concentration is quantified in the sample, and in which substrates of any enzyme (s) involved in the proteolytic cascade are not added before and / or during incubation until steady state equilibrium is reached stationary. |
