A process for manufacturing a chemically sterilized bioimplant comprising biological tissue and heparin, in which heparin is covalently conjugated directly to biological tissue, and the bioimplant is sterilized using a carbodiimide, the method comprising: (a) contacting a biological tissue with heparin to form a combination; and (b) simultaneously sterilizing the combination using a carbodiimide and directly conjugating heparin to the biological tissue using the carbodiimide. |
