titleOfInvention Wound exudate system accessory
abstract An independent system (14) for evaluating the exudate of a wound (3) of a patient (5), said system comprising: a light source (22); a detector or sensor (20) for detecting one or more physiological values of wound exudate from the wound (3) of the patient (5); a processor (15) for comparing the one or more detected physiological values with one or more predetermined physiological values to obtain a real-time comparison result and to provide an electronic signal based on the comparison result; in which the electronic signal corresponds to the guidelines for treating the wound (3); and the independent system (14) is configured to join an existing wound drainage line (7) along an exterior of the wound drainage line (7); wherein the light source (22) and the detector or sensor (20) are arranged within a flexible substrate (36) that is capable of bonding along the exterior of a wound drainage line ( 7) to detect the one or more physiological values during the passage of the exudate through the drain line (7); and in which the detector or sensor (20) does not have direct contact with the exudate from the wound.
