abstract A method of detecting a thyroid stimulating hormone receptor antibody in a sample, said method comprising: providing in combination in an assay medium a sample suspected of containing a thyroid stimulating hormone receptor antibody, a composition comprising an aqueous medium, a receptor, a chelating agent in an amount of about 0.1 mM to about 20 mM and a C2-C6 polyol in an amount of about 5% to about 50% by weight, wherein the receptor is a thyroid stimulating hormone receptor chimera, wherein the thyroid stimulating hormone receptor binds to one support and a second thyroid stimulating hormone receptor binds to a brand, examine the combination for the formation of a complex comprising the thyroid stimulating hormone receptor antibody, the composition comprising an aqueous medium, a receptor, a chelating agent in an amount from about 0.1 mM to about 20 mM and a C2-C6 polyol in an amount from about 5% to about 50% by weight, wherein the receptor is a thyroid stimulating hormone receptor chimera, wherein the receptor thyroid-stimulating hormone binds to one carrier and the second thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor binds to a label, and relating the presence of the complex to one or both of a presence and an amount of the stimulating hormone receptor antibody thyroid in the sample.
