abstract |
A method of preparing sustained-release microparticles containing drugs, comprising: (a) dissolving a biodegradable polymer and a drug in a halogenated alkane solvent to form a biodegradable polymer solution containing a drug; (b) homogeneously mix the biodegradable drug-containing polymer solution in a continuous phase containing a surfactant to form a dispersed phase; (c) maintaining an emulsion including the continuous phase and the dispersed phase at a temperature below the boiling point of the halogenated alkane solvent to form microparticles in the continuous phase; (d) drying the microparticles primarily; (e) mixing the first-dried microparticles with an aqueous-alcoholic solution and maintaining the aqueous-alcoholic solution at a temperature above the boiling point of the halogenated alkane solvent to extract and evaporate the residual halogenated alkane solvent from the microparticles; and (f) secondarily drying the obtained microparticles to produce microparticles containing medicine. |
