abstract | A system (10) comprising: (a) a container (12), of which at least a portion of the surface of the inner wall (24) is to be coated, comprising an open end (16), a second end (18) opposite the open end (16), and a wall (20) extending between them, the wall (20) having an exterior wall surface (22) and an interior wall surface (24) , and the container (12) having a chamber (26) within an area defined by the surface of the inner wall (24) between the open end (16) and the second end (18) of the container, in which the chamber (26) is sealed from the outside of the container (12), and the container (12) acts as its own vacuum chamber; (b) a monomeric gas supply source (32) containing at least one monomeric gas (34); (c) a gas inlet conduit (36) placed at the open end (16) of the container (12) and having a portion (38) extending towards a portion (40) of the chamber (26) to supply at least one monomeric gas (36) received from the monomeric gas supply source (32) to the chamber (26); (d) a pyrolizing surface (50) for pyrolizing at least a portion of the monomer gas (34) supplied to the chamber (26) of the container (12) to form a reactive gas (52) comprising at least one reactive moiety from the monomeric gas; (e) a temperature controller (56) in a position close to the surface of the outer wall (22) of the container (12) to stimulate cooling of the surface of the outer wall (22) to maintain the surface of the wall inside (24) of the container (12) at a desired temperature to facilitate the deposition and polymerization of the reactive moiety on at least a portion of the surface of the inner wall (24) of the container (12); and (f) an outlet duct (68) placed at the open end (16) of the container (12) or the second end (18) of the container (12) to remove excess reactive gas (52) from the chamber ( 26); wherein the monomeric gas comprises at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of organosilicon monomers, halocarbon monomers, azurin monomers, thiran monomers, unsaturated olefinic monomers and mixtures thereof. |
