abstract | A microneedle for administering a drug transdermally, comprising a base section in the form of a polygonal or conical truncated pyramid, a rod section formed in the base section and having a polygonal or conical truncated pyramid shape and a section upper formed in the section of the rod, in which (i) an apex angle of the tip (α) in the upper section is 15 to 60 °; (ii) a tip diameter (D0) is 1 to 20 μm; (iii) the area (A3) of the upper surface of the base section is larger than the area (A2) of the lower surface of the rod section; (iv) the following expressions (1) and (2) are fulfilled; ** Formula ** in which H is the total height and D4 is the diameter of the lower surface of the base section, ** Formula ** in which ß is the angle between the lateral surface of the rod section and the upper surface of the base section and α is the apex angle of the tip; and (v) a solid composition containing the drug is fixed on the outer lateral surface of the rod section and the following expression (5) is fulfilled, ** Formula ** in which γ is the angle formed by tangential lines that connect the apex of the upper section and the outer surface of the solid composition fixed on the outer lateral surface of the rod section. |
