abstract A filter (40) for a cigarette comprising filter material (45), sorbent material (50) and a two-part capsule (10, 100) containing an additive material to modify the characteristics of tobacco smoke during smoking of the cigarette, the capsule (10, 100) comprises: a first part (20, 200) having an open end that defines a first chamber containing the additive material; and a second part (30, 300) having an open end defining a second chamber, wherein the second part (30) fits inside the first part (20) with the open ends facing the same direction or the second part (300) fits around the first part (200) and the open ends face each other in opposite directions, where the first part (200) and the second part (300) form a sealed pump and where The capsule (100) releases at least a portion of the additive material when the filter is subjected to an external force.
