titleOfInvention Device for the removal of an occlusion
abstract A device for compression and removal of a thrombus to increase blood flow through a vessel, a device comprising: an outer tube (402) having a proximal end and a distal end, the tube being sized to be disposed of sliding form inside a microcatheter, a tube having an expandable member (401) adjacent to the distal end; a push / pull cable (403) slidably disposed inside the outer tube, cable having a proximal end and a distal end, the cable being configured to be operated from the outside of the body, the cable being coupled to the member expandable at the distal end (404) of the expandable member; wherein the expandable member is configured to be increased in diameter from a diameter in the natural state to a larger first diameter, and exert a radial force when an axial force component is applied at the proximal end (409) of the cable by pulling the push / pull cable, axially displacing the push / drag cable with respect to the tube; and wherein said expandable member comprises a plurality of spirally wound and woven cables in a configuration defined by the number of cables, the cross-section of the cables and the distance between the cables, such that the expandable member is expandable to compress not uniformly the thrombus along an axis defined by the expandable member and fixedly meshing the wires to the thrombus, and the less compressed portions of the thrombus, between the portions of the thrombus compressed in contact with said wires, protrude toward a central axis of the vessel between the cables at an angle of the slope α that represents a degree of engagement between the cable and the thrombus.
