titleOfInvention | Placement and stimulation of a deep brain electrode based on the temperature of brown adipose tissue |
abstract | A deep brain stimulation system, comprising: an implantable pulse generator, the pulse generator comprising: an implantable shell; a battery inside the case; and a controller within the housing; an electrode coupled to the pulse generator; and a supraclavicular brown adipose tissue temperature sensor coupled to the pulse generator; wherein the controller is configured to: deliver deep brain stimulation through the electrode to a first site in a target region of a brain in response to an initial insertion of the electrode at the first site; receive temperature measurements from the supraclavicular brown adipose tissue temperature sensor; in response to a brown adipose tissue temperature rise condition, generating an indication to secure the electrode to deliver deep brain stimulation in the first place; and in response to a brown adipose tissue no temperature rise condition, generating an indication to regulate the electrode until a brown adipose tissue temperature rise condition occurs. |
