Biocompatible substrate to facilitate interconnections between stem cells and target tissues and methods to implant it |
abstract |
A substrate for cell treatment to treat diseased or damaged ocular tissue, comprising: a non-porous polymer that is configured for implantation in ocular tissue, the polymer comprising: a flat parylene apical surface for cell growth having a thickness between 0.1 and 6 micrometers; and a parylene basal surface comprising support features, the support features being periodic polymeric supports having a height of between 3 µm and 150 µm and providing structural rigidity to the substrate; the substrate configured to maintain a population of cells suitable for the treatment of diseased or damaged ocular tissue after implantation in a region of diseased or damaged ocular tissue of a subject. |
