A method for lubricating a car engine using a car engine oil comprising a base fluid and an organic polymeric friction reducing additive, which has a molecular weight ranging from 1000 to 30,000 Dalton units and which is the product of reaction of: a) a hydrophobic polymer subunit that is a polyisobutylene-type polymer that has been subjected to maleinization to form a succinic polyisobutylene anhydride having a molecular weight in the range of 300 to 5,000 Da; and b) a hydrophilic polymer subunit that is a polyethylene glycol; c) optionally, at least one axis unit or group that can bind the polymeric subunits, such that said axis unit is chosen from a polyol, a polycarboxylic acid and mixtures thereof; d) optionally a chain termination group, which is any fatty carboxylic acid. |
