abstract |
A process for conditioning and removing deposits, which includes mixtures of inorganic compounds sequentially comprising the steps of: a) taking a heat exchange system of a nuclear power plant out of service, including the heat exchange system a steam generator having lime therein comprising anhydrous and / or hydrous oxide deposits and / or aluminum and / or silicon hydroxides; b) introducing into the steam generator an aqueous cleaning solution comprising a treatment concentration of a quaternary ammonium hydroxide, in which a pH at room temperature of the aqueous cleaning solution is at least 7; c) dissolving the anhydrous and / or hydrous oxide deposits and / or aluminum and / or silicon hydroxides through a chemical reaction between the quaternary ammonium hydroxide and the tanks by contacting the tanks with the aqueous cleaning solution during a treatment period; d) maintaining the aqueous cleaning solution within a range of treatment temperature during the treatment period; e) removing the dissolved deposits and substantially all of the aqueous cleaning solution from the steam generator after the treatment period; and f) restore the heat exchange system to its operating state. |
