abstract A syringe assembly 2 comprising: - a syringe barrel 4 comprising an inner chamber 14 filled or adapted to be filled with medicament, and a channel 18 in fluid communication with the chamber 14 and through which the medicament is dispensed; and - an outer sheath 6 configured to be removably attached to the syringe barrel 4, and comprising a projection 40 that is received by the channel 18 when the outer sheath 6 is attached to the cylinder 4, thereby creating a seal, which prevents the medication from flowing therethrough, wherein the syringe barrel 4 and the outer sheath 6 each comprise coupling means 44 that are configured to engage each other in order to create a second seal, which prevents leakage or discharge of the medicament from the chamber 14 when the outer sheath 6 is attached to the cylinder 4, characterized in that the coupling means 44 are arranged on an external surface of the syringe cylinder 4, at least adjacent or towards the end 12 of the cylinder 4, which is the opposite of the one from which the medication is dispensed.
