titleOfInvention | Artificial joint |
abstract | Artificial joint (100) for use within a patient's body, the artificial joint (100) comprising a first joint part (101), a second joint part (105) and an intermediate part (103) that are mechanically connected so that the first articulation part (101) can move relative to the second articulation part (105); wherein the first articulation part (101) and the second articulation part (105) each comprise an electrically conductive material and the intermediate part (103) comprises a non-conductive material and is disposed between the first part (101) of articulation and the second articulation part (105), so that the first articulation part (101) is electrically isolated from the second articulation part (105); characterized in that the artificial joint (100) further comprises an internal electronic unit (110) that is provided within the insulating part (103) and is connected to the first articulation part (101) by means of at least a first electrode (111) ) and to the second articulation part (103) by means of at least a second electrode (113), so that a first electrical voltage can be applied to the first articulation part (101) and a second electrical voltage can be applied to the second articulation part (105), whereby the first electrical voltage and the second electrical voltage are applied with reference to a common reference potential. |
