abstract A mechanical part having a structure including a substrate (1) and a ceramic coating layer (5; 11) of nanometric thickness, to improve the mechanical strength, characterized in that it includes, between the substrate and the ceramic coating layer, a layer of essentially non-porous metal adhesion (2; 4; 6; 8; 10; 12) of nanometric size that provides plastic deformability to the ceramic layer; wherein said ceramic coating layer (5; 11) is an essentially non-porous topcoat barrier layer of nanometric size of essentially stoichiometric titanium nitride; and further including, on the barrier coating layer (5; 11) of titanium nitride, another surface layer (7; 13) of essentially non-porous nanometric size, consisting essentially of titanium oxynitride.
