abstract | A method of sizing fibers or particles used in plastic composite materials, the sizing method comprising: (i) preparing a sizing solution comprising a polymerization compound selected from the group consisting of at least one precursor to a polymerization initiator (IP ) containing a non-isocyanate to initiate the polymerization of caprolactam monomers (ii) introducing the fibers or particles to the sizing solution comprising the first precursor for an IP containing a non-isocyanate to form treated fibers or particles, (iii) introducing the treated fibers or particles to a second precursor for an IP containing a non-isocyanate, wherein the second precursor reacts with the first precursor in the treated fibers or particles to form an active IP to initiate polymerization of caprolactam monomers. |
