abstract A process for preparing 3,5-bis (haloalkyl) pyrazoles of the formula (I), ** Formula ** in which R1 and R3 are independently selected, in each case, from C1-C6 haloalkyl; R2 is selected from H, halogen, COOH, (C> = O) OR5, CN and (C> = O) NR6R7; R5 is selected from C1-12 alkyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, C6-18 aryl, C7-19 arylalkyl and C7-19 alkylaryl; R6 and R7 are independently selected, in each case, from C1-12 alkyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, C6-18 aryl, C7-19 arylalkyl and C7-19 alkylaryl, or where 10 R6 and R7 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached can form a ring of four, five or six members characterized in that in step (A), the acid derivatives of the formula (II), ** Formula ** in which R1 is as defined above; X is selected from F, Cl, Br and -OC (O) R1 are reacted in the presence of a base with compounds of the formula (III), ** Formula ** in which R9, R10 are independently selected from C1 alkyl -12, C3-8 cycloalkyl, C6-18 aryl, C7-19 arylalkyl and C7-19 alkylaryl; R2 and R3 are as defined above; to form the compound of formula (IV): ** Formula ** in which R1, R2, R3, R5, R6, R7, R9, R10 are as defined above and because in step (B) the cyclization of (IV) takes place under acidic conditions to form (I).
