abstract Process to revalue polyethylene terephthalate residue where polyethylene terephthalate residues are mixed with one or more silicon-based modifiers and where the silicon-based modifiers are organofunctional silanes of formula ** Formula ** where X is a selected easily hydrolyzable group between alkoxy, polyalkoxy or halogen and R represents an organofunctional group linked to silicon by an alkyl bridge, and their mixtures with silicon derivatives selected from the group of siloxanes, silazanes, silicates or silanes, both linear and branched, including their monomeric, oligomeric forms , polymeric or copolymeric, in a mono- and multifunctional form, as well as macromers thereof, in a total concentration of 0.01-10% by weight with respect to the weight of the polyethylene terephthalate residues and where the process comprises the next steps: - mechanical recycling of the polyethylene terephthalate waste stream, including operations standard of crushing, classifying, washing, rinsing and drying to obtain flakes, - chemical revaluation of the flakes in a reactor mixing the polyester flakes in the presence of said modifier / s based on silicon at a high temperature below 200ÂșC and with a residence time of one hour or less, - extrusion followed by granulation to produce the final crystalline product, where the step of chemical revaluation of the flakes results in a better thermal and hydrolytic stability of the modified product compared to its counterpart without treatment as a result of a reduced concentration of terminal carboxyl groups (CEG).
