titleOfInvention Intraocular lens (IOL) hybrid diffractive-refractive apodized for pseudo-accommodation
abstract An ophthalmic lens (10) comprising: an optic (12) having an optical axis and a plurality of surfaces comprising an anterior surface (14) and a posterior surface (16), having at least one of the surfaces: a region internal refractive (20) adapted to contribute refractively to a far focus optical power; and a refractive-diffractive structure (22) disposed outwardly from the inner refractive region in a direction away from the optical axis, the refractive-diffractive structure comprising two or three diffractive regions (30a, 30b, 30c) and one or two regions refractive (32a, 32b), each diffractive region comprising a plurality of concentric rings forming a diffraction grating with a plurality of apodized steps (36), at least one refractive region (32a, 32b) disposed between two diffractive regions (30a, 30b, 30c), a diffractive region adapted to contribute diffractively to a multi-zonal optical power, a refractive region adapted to contribute refractively to the far focus optical power; and an outer refractive region (24) disposed outwardly from the refractive-diffractive structure in the direction away from the optical axis, the outer refractive region being adapted to contribute refractively to the focal length optical power.
