A process for preparing a highly polymerized aromatic polycarbonate resin, comprising a highly polymerizing step for reacting an aromatic polycarbonate prepolymer with 1,3-adamantanedimethanol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to obtain a highly polymerized aromatic polycarbonate resin, in that the weight average molecular weight of the highly polymerized aromatic polycarbonate resin is 5000 or more, greater than the weight average molecular weight of the aromatic polycarbonate prepolymer at which the weight average molecular weight of the highly aromatic polycarbonate resin Polymerized and the weight average molecular weight of the aromatic polycarbonate prepolymer are determined using the procedure and equipment as specified in the description. |
