titleOfInvention System for the prevention of bacterial infections in needle paths
abstract System for the prevention of bacterial infections in needle paths It comprises: - a percutaneous surgical instrument (1) percutaneously introduced into a tissue (3) of a patient, such as a biopsy needle, and with an external surface of electrically conductive material; - a contact electrode (4) applicable to the skin (3a) of a patient; - a silver lining or element (P) arranged in or constituting part of the instrument (1), and configured, sized and intended to decompose by electrochemical release when a current is applied, releasing silver ions to its surroundings; and - an electric current generator (2) arranged and configured to generate a current and induce its transient circulation between, respectively, the instrument (1) acting as an anode, the tissue (3) and the contact electrode (4) acting as cathode, with a given magnitude and duration to produce a massive and sudden release of silver ions in order to prevent post-treatment bacterial infections.
