titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for providing a gas mixture |
abstract | A gas mixing arrangement (700; 800; 900; 1000) comprising: a first source of gas supply (702), intended to supply a first gas; a second gas supply source (704), intended to supply a second gas, different from said first gas; first and second electronic valves (714, 716), intended to regulate the respective flows of the first and second gases from the first and second sources of gas supply; a mixer (718); and an outlet (722), such that the mixer is located downstream of the first and second electronic valves and arranged, in use, to mix the first and second gases in order to provide a mixed gas to the outlet, such that the gas mixing arrangement additionally comprises a meter (750; 850; 950; 1050), the meter comprising: a first sensor assembly, capable of being operated to determine the average molecular weight of the mixed gas, and including a high frequency flat piezoelectric crystal oscillator, in contact with the mixed gas; a second sensor assembly, capable of being operated to determine the pressure of the first and second gases downstream with respect to the respective valve of the first or second electronic valves, and upstream of the mixer; and a controller, capable of being operated, in response to the average molecular weight of the mixed gas and said gas pressure, to automatically control said first and second electronic valves, in order to control the relative proportion of the first and second gases in said gas mixed, and the pressure or mass flow rate of the mixed gas, from the outlet. |
