abstract | Steam production process using heat recovered from a polymerization reaction to produce polyolefins, comprising the steps of: (a) putting said polymerization reaction in thermal contact with a cooling fluid, so that the cooling fluid removes the heat from said reaction, (b) thermally contacting at least part of said refrigerant fluid with at least one absorption cycle using an absorbed fraction and an absorbent solution, thereby transferring heat from the refrigerant fluid to said absorption cycle, using said cycle of to produce steam from a condensate, wherein the absorption cycle comprises i) vaporizing a condensed absorbed fraction using heat from said refrigerant fluid, thereby generating steam absorbate, ii) exposing the vapor absorbate to solution absorbent so that the absorbent solution absorbs the absorptive vapor, thereby diluting the absorbent solution and producing a dilute absorbent solution, iii) remove at least part of the heat from said dilute absorbent solution and use said removed heat to produce steam from a condensate thermally connected to said absorption cycle, iv) use heat from the refrigerant fluid to heat the dilute absorbent solution at a temperature sufficient to vaporize the absorbate and produce a vapor absorbate and a concentrated absorbent solution; returning the absorbent solution for use in the absorption step (ii) v) condensing the vapor absorbate to form a condensed absorbate and returning the condensed absorbate to vaporize in step (i). |
