titleOfInvention | Methods of using mRNA for the detection of cell death in vivo |
abstract | A method for detecting and measuring cell death in vivo, the method comprising: (a) analyzing levels of specific miRNA sequences in cell-free nucleic acids obtained from a sample of a patient's body fluid, in which the fluid sample The body is selected from blood, serum and urine, said miRNA sequences being indicative of cell death in vivo and originating from cells that die throughout the patient's body; and (b) determine the status of an abnormal medical condition or condition in the patient, wherein said abnormal medical condition or condition is: (i) a pathogen infection, preferably in which the pathogen is a virus and more preferably in the that the virus is an Epstein-Barr virus; (ii) a stroke r; (iii) Alzheimer's disease; or (iv) Parkinson's disease. |
