titleOfInvention | Suture apparatus |
abstract | A suture device (100) for holding sutures (200, 250) comprising a hook end (202) and a loop end (203), the device comprising: a stem (103) defining a longitudinal axis and comprising a proximal part and a distal part; a handle (102) mounted in the proximal part of the stem (103), the handle (102) comprising a trigger (105); a plurality of sutures (200) disposed within the distal portion of the stem (103); and a delivery mechanism at least partially disposed within the stem (103), the delivery mechanism comprising: a first push rod (909) having a distal end comprising a hook insertion needle (302, 352); and a second push rod (909) having a distal end comprising a loop insertion needle (303, 357), the loop insertion needle (303, 357) comprising a flexible, pre-curved needle (306, 357) housed within an insertion tube (307/356) with the first push rod (909) and the second push rod (909) configured to be able to move independently along the longitudinal axis, where the hook insertion needle (302, 352) is configured to mate with the hook end (202) of a suture (200, 250), and the pre-curved, flexible needle (306, 357) is configured to mate with the loop end (203) of a suture (200), and wherein the operation of the trigger (105) causes each push rod (909) to be translated relative to the stem (103) with the delivery mechanism being configured to releasably engage a suture (200, 250) arranged at least partially within the stem (103) in u In an open configuration, configured to deliver the suture (200, 250) from the stem (103) to a target tissue, configured to form the suture (200, 250) in a closed configuration below a surface of the target tissue, and configured to advance the flexible, pre-curved needle (306, 357) and hook insertion needle (302, 352) so that the hook end (202) is inserted through the loop end (203) and configured to free from the suture (200, 250) closed. |
