abstract | A porous article comprising a porous body, which is formed by an inorganic material, which has at least one main surface that is filled with a mixture containing a metal oxide particle and an alkali silicate, the mixture being formed from a first mixed solution containing the metal oxide particle, the alkali metal silicate and water, in which the filled mixture is coated with a film formed from a second mixed solution containing an aqueous solution of alkaline zirconium carbonate and an aqueous solution of silicate or a colloidal silica, in which the metal oxide particles are α-type metal oxide particles having a corundum structure, and the alkali metal silicate is lithium silicate, a mass ratio (aluminum oxide particles : lithium silicate: water) of the first mixed solution is (45 to 55) :( 2 to 8) :( 37 to 53); a D50 value of a particle size distribution of the aluminum oxide particles is 0.5 μm to 5 μm, and a D90 value of the particle size distribution of the aluminum oxide particles is 3 μm or plus; the second mixed solution being either a mixed solution A containing from 0.5% by mass to 15% by mass of zirconium in terms of zirconium dioxide and from 0.005% by mass to 7.5% by mass of silicate or colloidal silica in terms of silicon dioxide, and, when the total mass of zirconium dioxide and silicon dioxide is 100 parts by mass, the mass of silicon dioxide is 1 part by mass to 50 parts by mass, or a mixed solution B containing from 0.005% by mass to 4.5% by mass of zirconium in terms of zirconium dioxide and from 0.5% by mass to 15% by mass of silicate or colloidal silica in terms of silicon dioxide, and when The total mass of zirconium dioxide and silicon dioxide is 100 parts by mass, the mass of zirconium dioxide is 1 part by mass to 30 parts by mass. |
