abstract | An automatic injector (10) that includes a housing, in which a syringe (28) having a plunger (21), a cylinder and a sheet (19) can be mounted at one end thereof through which it can be delivered the medication to an injection site; syringe holder means; diversion means; and a sleeve; characterized in that: the syringe support means (30) are capable of moving with respect to said syringe (28) to move along an axial path with respect to said housing (16); and the deflection means are capable of deflecting said syringe holder means (30) so that said needle (19) is normally within said housing; wherein said housing includes the outer shell (16) and the sleeve (18) is intermediate between the syringe holder means (30) and said outer shell (16) and is capable of rotating about a longitudinal axis of said injector ( 10) automatic between a first turning position and a second turning position; said sleeve (18) including coupling means that are selectively movable by a user from a first position to a second position by turning the sleeve (18) from the first turning position to the second turning position; wherein in said first position said coupling means is coupled with the syringe holder means (30) to substantially prevent a backward movement of the syringe (28) along said path when said syringe (28) is in a extended position where at least part of said needle (19) is outside the housing, and in said second position it is possible to move backwards of the syringe (28) along said axial path with respect to said housing and said means deviation cause said needle (19) to retract into said housing; and wherein the sleeve (18) is movable between said first and second turning positions by moving said outer shell (16) with respect to the sleeve (18) in a substantially axial direction. |
