titleOfInvention | Biomarkers of circulating nucleic acids associated with prostate cancer |
abstract | A method of detecting a biomarker that is associated with prostate cancer in a patient, a method comprising: obtaining the sequence of substantially all free DNA from circulating cells that are between 50 and 400 consecutive nucleotides in length isolated from a sample obtained at from blood, serum, or plasma of a patient who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer or is suspected of having prostate cancer; compare each sequence, free of repetitive elements, with the sequences presented in Table B to determine whether a sequence of a DNA free of circulating cells is in a chromosomal region presented in Table 3; in which the detection of a sequence in the nucleic acids in circulation that is unambiguously attributed to a chromosomal region presented in Table 3 is indicative of an increased probability of prostate cancer or recurrence of prostate cancer. |
